Samsung Fridge Freezers With SmartThings
Samsung's Family Hub fridge combines the capacity of a 389-litre refrigerator and an 225-litre freezer. It's an American-style large model that comes with a high-quality temperature control system and a host of clever features.
It's customizable using removable panels which allows you to design one that perfectly matches your collection of tie dye Crocs and matte black Rick Owens clothing.
All-Round Cooling
Separate cooling circuits in refrigerators with All Round Cooing help keep your food fresher. In conventional refrigerators, a single evaporator cools the freezer and refrigerator compartments. This can result in the food being dry due to the low-humidity air that is pumped into the refrigerator is pumped into. This can make food taste bland and unpleasant.
With All Round Cooling, each shelf has multiple vents that circulate cool air. This helps to maintain a consistent temperature, even when you open and shut the door of your fridge.
Optimal Fresh zone helps keep seafood and meats fresher for two times longer than in conventional refrigerators, and does not freeze. This feature is an absolute game changer for anyone who loves cooking, but isn't keen on the hassle of thawing out frozen meat or fish.
All Round Cooling employs an All Round Cooling metal cooling plate located at the back of the refrigerator to keep cold air and avoid its loss when you open the door. It also reduces the requirement for power defrosting to save time and money.
Samsung refrigerators come with one of the best ice makers we've tried. Its patent-pending Twist Ice Maker dispenses large cubes with just a twist, and it can be stored in the drawer below when not in use. This allows for more shelf space and makes it easier to locate your preferred drinks and snacks.
You can decide how your freezer and fridge open by using Reversible Doors. It is easy to fit your fridge into your kitchen layout while keeping it clean and clean.
Samsung's Family Hub serves as the central control center for your SmartThings interconnected home via large touchscreens on your refrigerator. It can display live video from your smart doorbell, place orders for groceries in accordance with an automated inventory or suggest recipes that make use of the ingredients you have on hand.
The flex drawers that are located on the bottom of Samsung fridges are an excellent storage solution that makes it easier to store larger items such as canned drinks and trays of pizza. They can be flipped up when not in use, and then folded flat to take less space. This is a fantastic feature for those who love to bake and cook but are limited in their fridge storage space.
FlexZone
The Samsung FlexZone side by side refrigerator freezer features a unique 3-zone system, which allows you to add an additional freezer drawer or refrigerator compartment. This flexibility lets you design your fridge freezer according to your storage requirements and needs. It also makes it easy to upgrade to a bigger or smaller fridge with the addition of an extra FlexZone module.
The elegant design of the fridge will fit in with any kitchen decor. Its stainless steel finish is elegant and durable. It also comes with an anti-fingerprint finish that keeps the surface looking fresh and new. The refrigerator comes with an external water and ice dispenser to make it even more practical.
This fridge comes with an FlexZone bottom-right compartment that can be converted into a freezer or refrigerator. This allows you to store things like bags of frozen meat, frozen vegetables or fish in the freezer. It performed well in our tests, too, but the lack of voice control and SmartThings integration on the 21.5-inch touchscreen was a missed opportunity.
There's plenty of space to store food items in the rest of the fridge with two drawers for crisps and a FlexZone that can be customized as a middle drawer. The latter lets you select from five different settings for the fridge freezer drawer depending on your preferences. There are five different settings: the freezer setting, a soft freeze setting for wine trays, or deli trays, for instance, a meat setting, a fish setting and a beverage set-up to store snacks, drinks, and frequently used items.
This Samsung FlexZone side by side refrigerator is perfect for families who wish to have a refrigerator and a freezer in one unit. It's a little less spacious than high-end French door models, but it offers a lot of useful features and is a great alternative for those with little space in their kitchens.
The Samsung Fridge Freezer is also an extremely energy efficient fridge, thanks to its digital inverter technology. This technology regulates the temperature inside the fridge, so that it doesn't fluctuate too much and keeps your food fresher for longer. Its energy efficiency has earned it the ENERGY STAR Certification.

SmartThings
SmartThings isn't quite the platform that Alexa and Google Assistant are however it does offer many smart devices that you can connect to. It's also baked into Samsung smartphones, tablets and TVs - and some refrigerators. It could be enough for some people particularly if they own several Samsung products.
The SmartThings App is well-rounded, and refined, with an "if x, then y" automation section that is very effective. It is possible to set up things as alarms that go off when water sensors detect flooding or turning on the light when your phone determines you're in your home. It can even control your refrigerator if you link it to a smart outlet, although we've seen mixed results with that.
SmartThings requires a hub which isn't inexpensive. Samsung has a number of options, including the SmartThings Station that you can attach to an existing router and use it as a nightlight. There's also a more affordable SmartThings Hub Dongle that supports Z-Wave and Zigbee and Thread with support in the near future.
Once you have your smart fridge connected to your smartphone, hub and fridge it's a breeze to use. The SmartThings app lets you control your fridge from anywhere, with notifications sent to your phone when it's opened or closed. You can set up schedules to set the temperature, and even create reminders.
www.frydge.uk is a founding member of the Home Connectivity Alliance, which is trying to make major home appliances from a range of manufacturers interoperable. In the near future you could control your Samsung washer/dryer, Electrolux oven, and LG TV through the same app.
While it's not as well used as Alexa or Google Assistant, SmartThings does have a few big hitters on its list, including Arlo, Nest, Belkin and Lifx. It's also compatible with Matter, which allows for accessories to pair regardless of their brand. For most people, however, merged Alexa and Google Assistant voice controls is probably the best bet.
Family Hub
A fridge freezer isn't much more modern than this: it comes with a 21-inch touchscreen in the door, complete with a variety of smart features. You can access entertainment apps, leave notes for family members (think a huge digital version of a notepad stuck to the fridge) Check weather updates, and much more, all thanks to Samsung's own voice assistant, Bixby.
The touchscreen lets you manage food and recipes. You can add ingredients directly through an app and check out what's in your fridge using internal cameras. You can create a grocery list on the go and track food items to check the expiration date. You can also use an app for recipes that will provide instructions while you cook.
Samsung has spent an entire year reworking the Family Hub fridges based on feedback from customers. One key change is that you can now create different profiles for every household member so they can tailor the apps and information they can access. It's still not quite as great as having Alexa integration built into your fridge, but it's an improvement on last year's model.
Family Hub is not only an application for managing entertainment and groceries It also manages Samsung's SmartThings platform. It can connect to Matter-compatible devices like lights, plugs and locks and can be used with the touchscreen to control them.
Samsung's fridge is only a couple of years old and, although it still has a lot of functionality however, its touchscreen capabilities aren't a feature most people would consider essential. They're more fun and a bit of frivolous accessories than anything else.
It could change when more software updates are released, but for the moment these models are ideally suited to those who want the most comprehensive connected fridge that is possible. If you're not among those, you could choose a lower-cost model that doesn't have the Family Hub to save some money. That might still be worth it for you if you have a lot of smart home appliances that need to be controlled by the same device, or if you simply love the idea of a fridge with a giant touchscreen.
